This is the English page of the Italian website of the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, Europe.
We created this website for all the families from the Old Continent: we’ll try to translate the most important news in at least three languages – English, Spanish and Russian.
At the Institutes of Fauglia our staff will be able to answer parents’ phone calls (+39050650237) in three languages: Italian, English and Spanish. But you can write in any language to email@example.com: our translators will forward your request to the right staff member. We only request that you please have a little patience, since we will need some time to carry out the necessary technical steps.
The courses and visits are normally held each year between January and February and between July and August.
The next Italian What To Do About Your Brain-Injured Child Course is quickly approaching. Parents from around the world will attend this course beginning January 19, 2014.
Enrollment is still open for this course. If your child has been diagnosed with autism, Down syndrome, developmental delay, or any type of brain injury, this course is the best gift that you can give yourself, your child, and your entire family.
This course is not only for Italian families. Parents from different countries attend with the help of professional translators in four major languages: English, Italian, Spanish, and Russian.

We are excited to announce that the “What to Do About Your Brain-Injured Child” course will be presented in Moscow, Russia, from October 6 – 11. This is the third time in the last year that the Institutes staff will be traveling to Moscow to give this course.
We are also excited that this will be the first time in history that we have presented the Lecture Series II in Moscow – these are lectures only open to parents who have graduated the “What to Do About Your Brain-Injured Child” course. These lectures will be given on October 7th and 8th.

Like every year, in July, the staff of the institutes will be present in force in Fauglia, giving courses to parents, visiting children, reviewing programs.
Throughout the month, the whole fascinating world created by Glenn Doman will be present: the children, their families, our staff.
With the growth of the demands and needs of our hurt kids and with the continuous development of the new methods we use, we always need to find new talents who are interested in working with us. We need staff prepared to make a choice full of professional and personal commitment, with constant love to our children and parents.
We need to expand our staff and we are looking for motivated young and mature people who want to pursue a career that will bring them in contact with wonderful people from all over the world, through a process of apprenticeship to be completed in Italy and the USA.

Glenn Doman often said that mothers are the best teachers the world has ever seen, and the parents that he inspired and taught continue to prove that each day. Champion of every child on earth, he never gave up on any child, and his dream of better kids for a better world lives on.
When Glenn founded The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in 1955, he was a young physical therapist who, as an infantryman, had led his men through World War II. He had seen men destroyed on the battlefield and set about to save people. At this point, Glenn had begun to formulate the groundbreaking concept that brain injury is in the brain-not the arm, leg, or foot-and that brain growth and development is dynamic and ever-changing, a concept broadly accepted today as neuroplasticity.
Sitting on his mother’s lap, Glenn learned to read before he went to school. His philosophy of learning was shaped by love and nurturing, and he always remembered that mothers were the key to the future.
Glenn said that, aside from his parents, the Boy Scouts were the greatest influence on him as a boy. “Primarily it taught me ethics,” he said. He embraced the Boy Scout motto, which in addition to duty to God and country, includes helping other people at all times.
The other great influence on him was the war, and like the Scouts, he explained, it taught him “comradeship, decency, and respect for your fellow man.”
When Glenn founded The Institutes, it was with awe and respect for adults who were paralyzed by strokes. “I found that given the opportunity they were courageous people, to be admired.”
The same was true of brain-injured children and their families, he learned. Glenn’s discoveries about how the brain develops allowed parents to keep their children at home and give them the opportunity to be well.
Glenn loved nothing more than being with children, who flocked to him and his Santa Claus demeanor. The comparison was made with merit, not only for his appearance but also for his warmth, generosity, and joviality.
In his early years, Glenn’s mentor was Dr. Temple Fay, who taught him to look beyond the obvious and to question traditional concepts. Dr. Fay admired the brain as a work of art, and Glenn was his best student.
Glenn and his staff traveled the globe to study how children grow and develop. The result was The Institutes Developmental Profile, the first and only document that shows the stages of brain development and provides a functional diagnosis. Once an accurate Profile is made, that Profile provides a road map to create an effective program to treat the brain.
The concept of neurological organization followed, and programs were carefully developed to provide enhanced sensory stimulation and increase motor opportunity in recognition of the orderly way in which the brain grows.
By the early ’60s, Glenn had hundreds of two-, three-, and four-year-old hurt kids who were reading and comprehending what they read well beyond their age. This led Glenn to ask, “Why aren’t well kids as well as they ought to be?” A new chapter opened as Glenn realized that well kids were not getting the stimulation and opportunity they needed to achieve their full potential.
Glenn believed that parents were the answer to the world’s problems and that children could learn absolutely anything that could be taught in an honest, factual, and joyous way.
He believed that mothers and fathers and children belonged together.
Once, many years ago, someone who did not agree with Glenn’s ideas about early learning said of him, “All Glenn Doman is doing is driving mothers and babies closer together.”
Well, it is not all that Glenn did in his long and highly productive life, but he often said, “Put that on my tombstone, make that my epitaph: He drove mothers and babies closer together, and I will rest well.”
Millions of parents around the world have been influenced by the work of this great man. The world is a better place because of his life. His devoted staff will miss him deeply every minute of every day, but, like Glenn, they will never give up. They will continue to fight the good fight to ensure that hurt children have a fighting change to be well and well kids have a fighting change to be better.

DOUGLAS DOMAN TO LECTURE IN UZBEKISTAN
We are excited to announce that our vice director, Douglas Doman, is traveling to present introductory lectures about The Institutes work in Uzbekistan. He will be lecturing in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the National Library of Uzbekistan. He will lecture to the parents of brain injured children from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. His lectures for the parents of well babies will be from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. If you would like more information about these lectures, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
DOUGLAS DOMAN TO LECTURE IN SANTA BARBARA, CA
Douglas Doman will lecture to the parents of brain-injured children in Santa Barbara on Sunday, May 19th. He will teach an introductory lecture about The Institutes work. The lecture is titled: The Pathway to Wellness, How to Help Your Special Needs Child
The lecture will be held at The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), Loma Pelona Conference Center. The seminar will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Simone Castellani’s story is truly beautiful, this 17 year old from Gragnano Trebbiense, who struggles every day along with family and a marvelous group of volunteers to have a life as normal as possible. Tv 200 will air a scoop dedicated to him and his mother on Friday, March 8th at 05:00 PM within the show “Romanzo Familiare” (Family Novel).
The only program entirely dedicated to family – It airs from Mondays to Saturdays at 19:00

To say that Simone, being born brain injured, appeared to be destined to an existence as a vegetable…. instead, the Love of his father Alessandro and his mother Claudia, the help of their parish priest and the solidarity of many friends (to call them volunteers would be an understatement) all close to him, have accomplished a miracle…. and the little Simone keeps improving continuously.
That of Simone is a true and marvelous demonstration of love, solidarity and perseverance…. one of those stories that help us see how much good there still is in our society and mankind’s heart.
The Institutes is excited to announce that a “What to Do Your Brain-Injured Child” course will be held in Moscow, Russia, the week of March 24th. This will be the second course that The Institutes has taught in Russia. Today a new adventure is starting. The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in Fauglia are launching the new European site, which was created especially to reinvigorate our relationship with our families and with all the people and associations that work, all over the world, to help people, and children in particular, to fully achieve their human potential, whether they are healthy or injured.
Our object is to be as simple and clear as possible.
In the two columns on the left you’ll find all the information that is necessary to all those who wish to participate in our programs or who are already part of them: from the calendars of the courses in Italy to the modules for ASL reimbursements, from enrollment forms to the endless ways you can utilize the incredible amount of information we’ll put on this site as time goes by.
In the summary section, we inserted the links you need to reach the pages where you may find all the information describing what we have done so far, what we do and what we will do (from the course contents, from our history to the external research that confirms the validity of our methods, for example). Not only: we have also inserted links that will lead you to pages presenting every symptom, from autism to Down’s Syndrome, and that also to those where we explain how we work to develop children’s brains as well and as soon as possible.
Lastly, in the menu, you’ll also find all our contact information, the various pathways that you can follow with us to help your children and also all the administrative information you’ll need to collaborate with the Institutes. We have also inserted a section to explain how you can help us, just in case you’d like to!
But maybe, the newest, most important and certainly the most challenging aspect about our website is this right-hand column: our newsletter, which is open to input from all of you. Here we will try to keep track of our work in Italy and all over the world, and we’ll also try to highlight articles, news, products, sites, initiatives and anything we think could be of interest to you. Moreover, our doors will be open to anyone who would like to contribute, just like they’ll be open to whoever would like to comment on what will appear on these pages in a constructive and positive way,.
And, we promise, no article will ever be longer than this first one: this has simply been a necessary introduction (even though we will always try to provide links to all sources and original articles, so you may download them in their entirety if you think its necessary).
